Kankakee Valley Theatre Association is pleased to announce its upcoming production of Big Fish, a heartfelt, larger-than-life musical that celebrates family, storytelling, and the extraordinary moments hidden in everyday life.

Based on the novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film by Tim Burton, Big Fish tells the story of Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman known for his boundless imagination and extraordinary tales. As Edward faces the final chapter of his life, his son Will returns home, determined to separate fact from fiction and understand the real man behind the tall stories.

Through a series of magical flashbacks, audiences are transported into Edward’s world, where giants roam, witches cast spells, mermaids enchant, and a traveling circus mesmerizes. These vivid tales reveal a man who lived boldly, loved deeply, and embraced the power of storytelling to shape his legacy.

As father and son navigate their complicated relationship, Big Fish explores themes of reconciliation, belief, and the importance of seeing life—and each other—through the lens of wonder and compassion.

With an enchanting score and a book by John August, this whimsical and emotionally rich musical invites audiences to laugh, dream, and reflect on the legacies we leave behind.
